Saturday, July 4, 2026. 7:30 a.m. The KID5K has become a summer holiday tradition in our community. This year will be the 43rd rendition of this event and we salute Better Living Inc. for stepping up in a most generous way as a signature sponsor of this event for the twentieth straight year.
The race will start/finish on the grounds of the Lakeside Middle and Hollymead Elementary Schools on Saturday morning, July 4, 2026. The course will be the traditional one through the Forest Lakes subdivision.
This year proceeds will benefit three amazing local children’s charities:
Central Little League provides area boys and girls with an enriching, challenging, and exciting baseball and softball experience. Salvation Army invites Charlottesville youth to attend the wholesome and exciting Camp Rappahannock (formerly Camp Happyland) each summer. And Charlottesville Community Bikes promotes environmentally sound transportation, recycles bicycles, and makes cycling accessible.

“Pick up the Pace!” Fifteen years ago on July 4, Dick Fowler, beloved past president of the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville and energetic KID5K race director for many years, passed away at the age of 70. His family recently made a generous donation in his memory to the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville Foundation. This year we would like to invite all participants and their friends and families to consider making a special donation in memory of Dick Fowler. All donations made to this year’s race will be matched by the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville Foundation. Donations can be made easily on the Run Sign Up web page with the link below. As Dick would say: “Let’s pick up the pace!”
