December 1–-“First Monday” Speaker Meeting at The Center at Belvedere. Program: Air Force One
***MONDAY, December 1, 6:30 p.m.–Program to be presented by current Kiwanis Secretary Bob Ribando who served his country during the Vietnam era as a member of the U.S. Air Force squadron servicing the aircraft modified and used to transport the president of the United States, commonly known as Air Force One. Bob has presented a talk on the history of presidential air travel as well as on his own experiences as a member of this elite crew to many audiences. Tonight he shares his story with Kiwanians and their guests at our regular meeting at The Center at Belvedere. Don’t miss it!

December 12–Toy Lift–Wish List Area Worker – Help with retrieving toys for Greer Elementary School children.
***FRIDAY, December 12, 4 p.m. — Kiwanis volunteers will help President Marieka “shop” for toys for the children of Greer Elementary School. Kiwanis “elves” should come to Toy Land located in the old JCPenney (front store doors) in Fashion Square Mall. Please notify President Marieka ASAP if you can help.

 December 15 –-“Third Monday” Speaker Meeting at The Center at Belvedere. Program: Salvation Army Major Donald Wilson.
***MONDAY, December 15, 6:30 p.m.–Program: Charlottesville Salvation Army Corps Officer, Major Donald Wilson, will speak to us about the youth programs offered by the Salvation Army year-round, including especially Camp Rappahannock, which once again this year is one of our club’s signature fund-raising priorities. At this time of year, we support the Angel Tree as well as ring the bell to fill the Salvation Army kettle. You might also consider supporting CBS19 Stockings which is an Angel Tree program especially designed to help teenage youth in need.

***MONDAY, January 19, 6:30 p.m.–Program: Freddy Jackson of Love No Ego. “Helping youth and young adults to discover themselves, go beyond the limitations of the egotistical world, and be their best selves. Professional Speaking, Mentoring, Workshops, and Athletic Training. Real and sustainable inspiration for youth and young adults ages 10-24.”

Wednesday, January 21: THINK GLOBALLY: Kiwanis International was founded in Detroit, Michigan on January 21, 1915. There are over 175,000 adult members and more than 273,000 youth members in 14,346 clubs in 83 countries and geographic areas around the world.  KI’s recently completed worldwide service project, in conjunction with UNICEF, helped to Eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) from the face of the earth.  This project followed KI’s previous successful project, also with UNICEF, of eliminating Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD), the leading preventable cause of intellectual disabilities,  worldwide. The latest idea from Kiwanis International for how Kiwanians can make a difference around the world is called The Possibility Project“Through the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, $2.25 addresses the needs of one child. Imagine the possibilities if we raised $25 million — enough for Kiwanis clubs and members to serve 10 million children around the world.

March 2 –-“First Monday” General Meeting at The Center at Belvedere. Program: Lauren Tucker, ACAC Preschool.
***MONDAY, March 2, 6:30 p.m.–Program: Lauren Tucker, Director of ACAC Preschool.acac Preschool is a year-round, full-day program for children ages 2 through rising Kindergarten. Our preschool program is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education and led by an qualified, loving, teaching team. The program is held at Adventure Central, in spacious, well-lit classrooms. Children enjoy time outside in the large outdoor playground and turf field. On cold and rainy days, they can still run and play in the indoor arena and Big Room. May through August, swimming in the outdoor Waterpark is part of the preschool week.”

March 16 –-“Third Monday” General Meeting at The Center at Belvedere. Program: Erica Thomas, Crozet Small Business Collaborative.
***MONDAY, March 16, 6:30 p.m.–Program: Erica Thomas, founder of the Crozet Small Business Collaborative, will discuss “Yay! Crozet! Passport Event” event and her efforts building community in Crozet. “The Crozet Small Business Collaborative is a networking and support group for small businesses located in Crozet, Virginia. We meet monthly to share community and business news, challenges, and resources. Meetings generally take place the second Monday of the month from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Old Trail Golf Club.”
