Everyone meet at 6 p.m. at the Putt Putt Fun Center located at 1515 Putt Putt Pl, Charlottesville, VA 22901 that’s on East Rio Road near the UHAUL Center and Bank of America and Piedmont Power Equipment Store not far from Albemarle Square. Friendly competition to determine the Kiwanis Champion Putter for 2025. Refreshments will be served. Friends, family, and “Not-Yet-Kiwanians” welcome!!

Friday, July 4, 2025. 7:30 a.m. The Kiwanis Independence Day 5K Race has become a summer holiday tradition in our community. This year will be the 42nd rendition of the KID5K.
This year proceeds will benefitthree amazing local children’s charities:
Central Little League provides area boys and girls with an enriching, challenging, and exciting baseball and softball experience. Salvation Army invites Charlottesville youth to attend the wholesome and exciting Camp Happyland each summer. And Charlottesville Community Bikes promotes environmentally sound transportation, recycles bicycles, and makes cycling accessible.
The race will start/finish on the grounds of the Lakeside Middle and Hollymead Elementary School on Friday morning, July 4, 2025. The course will be the traditional one through Forest Lakes subdivision.
Free Tee-Shirt to those who sign up before May 30. Packet pick up will be at Lakeside Middle School on Thursday, 4:30 – 6 p.m. and on race day from 6:30 – 7:15 a.m.

PROGRAM: Marissa Wendt, Director of Annual Giving, at Camp Holiday Trails. “STILL MAKING CAMP MAGIC–51 YEARS AND COUNTING.” Located in Charlottesville, VA, Camp Holiday Trails is a nonprofit year-round camp for children and teens with medical needs and their siblings. Since 1974, we’ve been building community, resilience, and joy through inclusive, medically-supported camp experiences for families across the Mid-Atlantic region.

She is the director of Charlottesville’s Chihamba Dance Troupe, and works with The Front Porch as an outreach teaching artist. “Chihamba of Dancescape Ltd is a non-profit organization, dedicated to cultural education, community celebration, and youth development. Our mission is to inspire a deeper understanding of West African traditions and foster a sense of connection through the arts by sharing the beauty of West African culture while creating meaningful opportunities for connection and growth.“

Celebrate culture, connection, and community at one of Central Virginia’s most vibrant and anticipated summer events! The Chihamba Cultural Arts Festival brings together local and regional performers, artisans, and food vendors to honor the rich traditions of African and African diasporic culture.

Come celebrate the summer and our residents on August 2nd. There will be food and activities for all ages!“
